Painting Journal- Inspire or Expire June 2009-Sept 2009
So..."Inspire or Expire" I had just come off of such a high from the last year and now I was left with the feeling the best was over. How depressing! I had lost my inspiration! I knew that I had to continue painting and to have faith that I would find it again. If I stopped painting then what would I have? I might as well just expire! I moved my studio to the back driveway and spent the summer painting in the sun. Taking matters into my own hands- I submitted my work to a juried show and was accepted. The late summer show was a success and the next week I reconnected with my inspiration!
The first painting of the series, "Faith", symbolizes the fact that sometimes you find yourself alone but need faith that "you will be ok". In my last series, I painted a pair of pears which showed the importance of a friend in helping to reach your goals. This piece is 24'x 30'x 1'on stretched canvas.--SOLD 9.25.09
As you turn inward to drive to your goals, you start to look at your life and question what am I doing. Am I watching my life waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen? Hmmm...maybe if I was immortal I would not be afraid and then I would be happy. Maybe if I could be reincarnated then I would be who I want to be and would be happy. Hmm...maybe you just need to stop thinking and be yourself. You might find that your fears dissipate and happiness overwhelms you. Or you might find yourself in therapy sorting out your madness. This piece is 24'x 48'x 1'on stretched canvas.
This painting marks my first acceptance to a juried show. On July 25th I showed my art in the German Village Art Crawl. I sold a painting and 25 "Mona" bracelets. I could not have pulled this off without the help of many friends and family. Three represents promising new adventures, and assurance of cooperation from others whom you may require help. Three also symbolizes reward and success in your undertakings. The pears-again showing the more people you have supporting you the farther you will go. This piece is 48'x 36'x 1'on stretched canvas.
The pears are back! Love those Pears! I went back to the style of the first pears I painted. The colors are dark red and black. The piece shows that strong friendships prevail despite the ups and downs. Friendships that are easy...might just be acquaintances. This piece is 26'x 24'x 1'on stretched canvas.--SOLD 9.25.09
"Inspire or Expire" got me through the summer of 2009. The outdoor studio made for a great tan and the realization that everything will be "Ok"! Greg-
